Service Request Question

My case is EB2 India, PD is Oct 2004.

Since I will be current for Sept 2009, I was wondering if it will be a good idea to have a lawyer write to the USCIS requesting service on my case. My wife's I-485 was filed as a derievative on mine. She had her interview in May 2009 and was informed that her case is approvable and will be approved as soon as mine is approved.

Is there any downside to writing a service request letter? Also will an Infopass appointment help to get someone to look at my file? My case is pretty sound and should be approvable ( MS degree, no job changes since Labor was filed, steady stable company)

Is there any scenario under which writing a letter/Infopass will lead to further delays?

thank you
