Q.

Change job after I 140 approval before I 485 submission

Dear Lawyer:

I currently work in New York State. I began my green card process with my company this month. I am in EB2 regular (not NIW). I am from Mainland China. My H1B started from Oct, 2006.

Could I ask a few questions?

1. Since the waiting for I-485 submission is very long for Chinese citizens EB2 currently, if I want to change employer after my I 140 approval (let's esmitate Aug, 2010) before submission of I 485, will I keep my Priority date for new green card application? Could my current company do anything to destroy my Priority Date?

2. Could I change job to any categories? How similar the job categories should be? I am a research scientist in Research dept. Could I change to regulatory affairs scientist in regulatory affairs dept in the dame industry?
