H1B Petition valid until - 7/30/2010

I am currently working on H1b with an employer A. My project is expected to end anytime and getting a new project seems very difficult.
I need to be on project to be on the payroll.

I am looking at few options:

Option 1: My Employer wants to start the green card process for me. In this economy would you advise me to go forward with GC process and look hard for projects or get on H4 wait and come back on H1B later and then file GC with the new employer.

Option 2: Say if my green card process gets started i.e. labor is filed, and if then I need to get onto H4, will my green card process stops automatically by DOL even if employer A is willing to continue with it?
