L1-A conversion to H1 with approved Labor Cert

My current L1-A visa is expiring on Aug 2009 and my employer can still file an extension to max it out until May 2010.
I have an approved Labor Cert under the EB3 category but visa numbers aren't available for me yet.
Is it possible for me to have my company convert my visa to an H1-B so that I can avail of the AC21 3-yr extension?
Will the labor cert I hold still be valid if I am converted to an H1 visa given that it was approved when I was on an L1?
