Q.

140 pending, Got EAD, Am I elligible to work for new employer ?

Hi,
I was on H1B visa, but lost my job in Jan. Then I applied for EAD and got it approved. But my I-140 (2 years) and I-485 (18 months) are still pending. My Employer who sponsored my GC has already revoked my H1B. Now I am left with only EAD and no job. My employer said that they are not going to revoke my I-140. Now my question is, with EAD am I on a valid status, can I continue to stay here and look for a new job ? If yes, am I eligible to accept only a permanent position or I could do contract as well ? Once I start working with a new employer, is there any thing that needs to be done from my side to notify USCIS about my change of employment ?
Please help me with your valuable advice.
