H1B: Social Security not withheld
My employer, a small company, did not withheld Fica (social security & medicare) for the last 8 years!
I started as a J1 and when working on H1B it was assumed that Fica doesn't need to be withheld neither.
This was due to wrong professional advice and misunderstandings.
I filed my taxes for each year and everything else got deducted as it should.
1) Will this affect my I140 and I485?
2) What should and can be done now?
