Graduated with MS & got OPT(EAD card). In March 2004,in Michigan,at Detroit waterfront, was stopped by a border patrol agent. He asked for ID, which I provided (I had a MI Drivers' License & also gave him my SSN#). I was not arrested or detained or handcuffed or fingerprinted.
He verified that I was in the US legally, but he did give me a citation, 'Failure to carry Alien Registration', since I did not have my EAD card on me. He said this is a simple $50 fine.So I did pay the fine. Labor & I140 apprvd & Im in the process of filing for my AOS I-485 and there is a Q on the form, "Been arrested, cited,.., excluding traffic violations?"
What should my answer be to the above question? Is this a major issue or will it not have any bearing on my I-485 application? How should I handle this?
