Q.

Loss of J-2 EAD?

My I-140 (National Interest Waiver) was approved a month ago. I just received an email that my I-485 was approved and my GC was in production.

My wife is here on a J-2 visa (I am J-1; NOT subject to the 2-year rule) and submitted her I-485/AP as my dependent a few weeks ago. She did not submit an EAD application, because she already had it via her J-2. Yesterday my wife started her new job using her J-2 EAD.

My question(s): what happens to her ability to work now that I receive my green card? Does she have to quit asap, or is there a 'buffer' period? What can we do to allow her to stay on her job? Can I wait to "activate" my green card and thus buy some time before her EAD is revoked? Is it my wife's responsibility to inform her employer asap, or is it USCIS's responsibility?
