Q.

Eb3 to Eb2 portability

Hi,

I have master’s degree and 6 years of work exp in US. I filed for my GC in Feb 2008 under EB3 category. I'm still waiting for the date to become current to file my 485. I'm looking to change employers and refile under EB2. I think I qualify for date portability, but since employers are not ready to file GC immediately, How long can I retiain the date to refile in EB2? Do I need to refile immediately? I can stay on H1 for another 2-3 yrs.

Please advice
