Q.

Change status from H1-B to F1 (for MBA) though I am on I-140

I am currently on an H1-B visa (renewed this year for another 3 years because I have a pending I-140 application: priority date November 2007 EB3) and since I do not like my industry, I want to switch to finance and have been thinking about applying for an MBA at a top business school. If I do get accepted into the business school, will my visa application for F1 status be denied because I showed immigrant intent with my GC application? Also, once I am done with the MBA and get a new job, will that employer be able to restart my application in the EB2 category (since I will have my masters) using the same priority date of November 2007? I understand I may be making a mistake in letting go of my GC application but it will take atleast 5 more years for me to get the card minimum.
