Job Change after I-140 approval

I have my I-140 approved with 10/07 as PD. I am on my 7th year H1-B. I am now getting laid off. Can i still use this I-140 and how can one stop the employer from revoking this I-140.
Now if i find a employer to save my H1-B but i am not interested to be with them for the next say 3-4 years to get my GC done by them, how long will the I-140 be valid so that i can start my GC process with the next employer.
