Get unemployment benefit on AOS and options for Keep GC Alive

I have applied for employment based GC (filed my I-485) and right now in on (AOS) in USA. My wife and daughter are also with me on dependent AOS.My I-140 is also approved and priority date is Sept 2005.I have following queries, in case I want to go out of US for 2 years:
* Is it possible for a person with AOS to claim for unemployment benefit?
* What is the best option to keep GC alive - should I switch from AOS to CP?
* Do I need to start the switch process while I am in US or I can do even do it after 6 month and out of country? Is there any time limit within which I need to kick start this switch?
* My wife & kid are on dependent AOS – Do I need to file separate I-824 for them or they will be covered through my I-824?
* Do I need an employment offer now to make this switch?
