Q.

Change of Status

I got a job here in U.S. while I was in my home country. Now, I am here on Visit visa (entry valid till April 5th). My employer just told me today that he is filing for change of status application. Under the circumstances, what should I do? Do I need to file for any extension of stay application?
Second question is, my employer is just filing for change of status. What is my legal status after April 5th? Am I supposed to stay and wait, or am I supposed to leave before the April 5th as originally planned before this filing.
Please keep in mind that it might take a couple of weeks or more before we get anything (a reference and/or filing number) against the submitted application. What will happen if we don't get the reference and/or filing number before April 5th.
